Reply with your name, what you prefer to be called, then recommend a video game or board game that deserves more love that we are missing out on.

I’m Jeff Salbato (your teacher), but I prefer Jeff. You only need to introduce yourself in one of these sub-topics, but, because I’m the supposed leader here, I’ll post in all of them…

Video games no one talks about that are genius: XCom2, Train Valley 2, Slime Rancher, Creeper World, Shapez, Defense Grid: Awakening.

Video games that are popular and deserve to be: Portal, Borderlands 2, Far Cry 3 & 5, Monster Train, Saints Row the Third, Stardew Valley.

2 player board games my wife and I love: Battle Lines, Targi, Arboretum, Pandemic, Lost Cities, Viticulture, Quest for El Dorado, Wingspan, Santorini.

3-4 players: The Crew, Azul, Pandemic, Las Vegas.

For groups: Wits & Wagers, Balderdash, Scattergories, Say Anything, Taboo, Pictures.

I love so many different games on this list and Slime Rancher most definitely needs to be talked more about. I’ve personally sunk so many hours into the game and still haven’t discovered all that needs to be discovered there is so much to be discovered.

Thanks Chris! Slime Rancher is such a gem. If you are that person that loves to organize things just right (yes, I’m talking to you, Minecraft and Stardew Valley crazies) you may love Slime Rancher. Getting the right breeds in the right places and making the farm work like clockwork … until the cat ones escape and breed with the wrong slime and go psycho…)

ooh…I just bought an early access version of Slime Rancher 2, but I haven’t tried it yet.

              Linnea

My name is Linnea, which is what I prefer being called. I would recommend a game called Wingspan: The Board Game, it’s a board game about birds. It’s fairly non-competitive and fun to play when you’re looking for a more relaxing game with friends. The experience is sort-of like bird watching, except instead of birds there are cards – and you don’t have to go outside.

                – Linnea

                    Linnea,
Yes! Wingspan is loved at our house. When you’re ready for a new one, try Pandemic or Viticulture…they are as good as Wingspan, about the same medium level of complexity, and so satisfying. Modern board games are so so good.

                  Taylor Lujan

Hello! My name is Taylor, but please call me Tay.

                    A few video games I have personally enjoyed (even if they make me want to toss my controller across the room) are;
Returnal, Ghost of Tsushima, Superliminal, endling, inside, and limbo.
I’ve seen a few of you mention slime rancher and if you haven’t already, I recommend bugsnax!
It’s not farming but you do have to catch these “bug snacks” and it can get a bit challenging.

As for boardgames I like to play cranium, and taco, cat, goat, cheese, pizza when I am with family. However, when I am with my fellow nerd herd I like to play blokus, Amazed (the game), Azul, Sequence, and scattergories,

If you enjoy board games I highly recommend Slice and Dice on Unser and McMahon! They have majority of these games, pizza, and D&D nights.

                        Taylor,
If you have some random/varied personalities in your group, Scattergories is a must, because the fun is when people try to convince the others that one of their answers should count. In our family, my wife is the outspoken and competitive one, and thus she tries to convince everyone her ridiculous answers are right, which is hilarious.
Also, my wife and I used to go to Slice & Dice weekly for a couple months and loved it. Good shout.
                        -Jeff

                      Emily

                        Hello everyone,
My name is Emily, but I also like Em. I have always enjoyed video games, but was never super into them. However, my boyfriend and I custom built my PC almost two years ago and it has been amazing! It was a combination of his old parts that he no longer needed after upgrading his PC and new parts for mine. Anyways, after that I got super into PC games. I always finding myself coming back to popular cozy games like Stardew Valley, Minecraft, and The Sims 4. I am currently really excited for inZOI to come out. I also love a good story-rich adventure game. After the Fallout show came out I got super into Fallout 4. Some of my other all time favorites have been A Plague Tale: Innocence, Mail Time, and House Flipper. I also love a good game of Phasmaphobia every now and then. If you have any other recommendations please send them my way!

                        Talk more soon!

                            Em,
If you like Minecraft and Stardew Valley, then you should check out Satisfactory and Slime Rancher. Satisfactory is Minecraft but with industrialization, and Slime Rancher is Stardew Valley but your chores are collecting and breeding adorable mutant critters.

                          Anthony Zamora

                            Hello my name is Anthony,
Some of my more favorite video games that I would recommend to people that aren’t extremely mainstream would be Slime Rancher, Omori (Pretty dark and not for many demographics), Inscryption, Hollow Knight, Satisfactory, and Ori and the Will of the Wisps. For some of my bigger games that are fairly mainstreamed that I would recommend would be Lethal Company, Ghost of Tsushima, Returnal, Death Loop, Apex Legends, Subnatica, and Hell Divers 2. A board game that I don’t really see and enjoy would be Rummikub. While I know this list of games seems very chaotic with very little overlap, I enjoy many different genres. It may just be because of my ADD leads me to all genres of video games.

Subnautica is actually the game I’ve been playing right now. So good. (And I’ve already praised Slime Rancher and Satisfactory above.)

oh ive heard of ori and the will of the wisp also hollow knight. I like rogue-likes. I dont know if you have already but Celeste is a good rogue-like. not exatcly like Hollow night or Ori but more like super meatboy. still fun but you will die alot. I think on one play through I had over 1000 deaths. The game counts your deaths too.

Hi my name is Antonette Tumale and I prefer to be called Antonette. A game that I think deserves more love is an oldy but goody is club penguin. You could make lasting friendship and have good conversation no matter where you are. A card game I would choose would be poof. Its a game I feel most people haven’t played but it can be a ton of fun.

                                  Adrian Gonzalez

Hello everyone! my name is Adrian and i prefer to be called Adrian. A game I highly recommend that got a lot of backlash when it first released is, Cyberpunk 2077. back when it firts came out it was riddled with bugs and was very much unplayable on all the consoles from the last generation, ( Xbox one and PS4). If you own an Xbox series X or the Playstaion 5, its a much more fun experience. There have been substatial imporvments even to graphics on both consoles and even more so on PC with invidias new GPU’s. is centered on a the character you play, who just goes by the name of V. It has character customization so you can create whatever character you want to run around with in Night city. Night city is the fictional city that you adventrue around in and its all set in first person to truly immerse you in the cyberpunk world. Its a game by CDprojekt red so its a dialogue and story driven game where the choices you make can have an affect on the relationships you make. So if you’re into distopian futures where you can augment yourself with different types of cyberware like mantis blades or cyberware to allow you to super jump and even to hack terminals from a far and enemies. All in all its a fun game that will have you making hard decisions. OH yeah, Keanu Reeves is in it as a NPC named Johny silverhands.

Hello! My name is Camilla, most people call me Cami.

Amazing strategy board games to play in groups are:

Catan, which combines competitiveness and bargaining (plenty of yelling). Arcs is complex space warfare, while Brass Birmingham simulates life as a factory owner during the industrial revolution. Splendor is short and sweet.
Social deduction games like Mafia, Blood on the Clock Tower, and Town of Salem are like Among Us in real life and better.

                                          Cami!
Wow, you just went big! You are a serious board gamer. Shhh…don’t tell anyone, but I am too. I mean, I love playing games of every weight, but my buddy and I play mostly heavier games. Right now we’re playing “Slay the Spire: The Board Game” and “Lost Ruins of Arnak”. And our next games will be “Spirit Island” and “Search for Lost Species”.

I haven’t played “Brass” yet, but I keep wondering whether to grab it for my group. The trouble is two of us like heavy and longer games, but when it’s the four of us the group wants to play quicker and less competitive games like “The Crew”.

My wife and I used to play “splendor” but she gets sick of games quick. Her favorites are “Battle Line”, “Lost Cities”, “Pandemic”, “Targi”, and “Quest for El Dorado”.

Hello, my name is Justin. A lot of My friends call me Sarge. My current favorite video game that I would recommend. Is Assassins Creed Black Flag. It came out quite a few years ago. It is still a great game and one of the best Assassins Creed games that they have made in my opinion.

                                            Hello,

My name is Zoe Rodriguez! I have recently gotten into gaming since I made the impulsive decision to buy an Xbox series X. I have been really into F1 23 since I have always enjoyed following Formula One as a sport. I also enjoy playing Forza Horizon 5 since I have an interest in cars. Other than cars, I play rhythm games like Friday Night Funkin and Rhythm Sprout. I would most definitely suggest them if you’re into any of those topics!

I spent some years away from video games, and it was mainly Gran Turismo that brought me back. And I am also an F1 fan. I usually root for Ferrari and McLaren, but next year I’m also pulling for Williams.
