Start your reply with your name, what you prefer to be called, and then recommend a nerdy book that we should check out.

I’m Jeff Salbato (your teacher), but I prefer Jeff. You only need to introduce yourself in one of these sub-topics, but, because I’m the supposed leader here, I’ll post in all of them…
Everyone should read Fromm’s Sane Society, Epictetus’ Encheiridion, Chomsky’s What Uncle Sam Really Wants, Milgram’s Obedience to Authority, Frankl’s Man’s Search for Meaning, Holloway’s Godless Morality, …and hundreds of others…go read some books now!
(If you want a fuller list of book recommendations, click the “Propaganda” link in the header above and you’ll find a bunch of categorized lists of my favorite books.
Thanks, Jeff)-

Eylisa Quintana
I’m Eylisa Quintana, but I prefer to be called Eesa, and a book I love to recommend to people is called “This is where it ends.” I would not read it; he has a lot of triggers. It’s about school shooting and it gives you the perspective of 4 different people.

Zhanaye
Hey Eylisa, I like that book as well. I actually read it in high school. I enjoyed reading it, but yes, it can for sure be triggering to some. Thank you for sharing.

Samuel Green
Im Sam Green. Im very much a fantasy person. My favorite author is Brandon Sanderson, very high fantasy and id recomend his Mistborn and Stormlight series. Fanfiction can be spotty but Fallout: Equestria is a good read.
-
Sam,
I’ve read the first of the Mistborn series (Final Empire), and it was great. My daughter is nagging me to read “The Way of Kings” (The first of the Stormlight series); it is one of her favorite books of all time.
Over the last several years I have been reading more and more SciFi/Fantasy, after reading only overly serious books for so long. I missed out. My favorites have been Card’s “Ender’s Game”, Heinlein’s “Starship Troopers”, Weir’s “Project Hail Mary”, Scalzo’s “Old Man’s War”, etc.

The hunger games series is one of my favorites and I highly recommend everyone gives them a try.

Octavia Jobst
Hi AJ! It’s nice to meet you. Suzanne Collins is an amazing author, and the Hunger Games series is such a great recommendation. Her writing really pulls you into the story and makes you think. It’s awesome that you enjoy reading so much, especially books that have depth and strong themes.

Samantha Garza
Hello AJ,
I am also a huge reader and I have watched all the Hunger Games movies but I have never read the books. Last month I read the first book. I have started the second book and I am loving it so far.

Zhanaye
Hello everyone, my name is zhanaye (ja-nay), and the book I’m going to recommend is The Poppy War by R.F kuang. I’m currently a little more than halfway through it, and it’s pretty good. I think it’s historical fiction if I’m correct.
-
Octavia Jobst
Greetings everyone! My name is Octavia Jobst. I don’t really have a preference as to what I’m called. I usually let people come up with that one their own. Although, one of the funniest has been OJ. I love to read various types of books in general, but one of my favorite reads has been Ender’s Shadow. It is a fiction sci-fi series, consisting of four books. The storyline, following the life of Bean, is so unique and fun. I definitely recommend it!

Pamela Perea
Hello everyone! My name is Pamela. A book collection I would 100% recommend to people that are interested in things like me (strategy, psychology and understanding how power really works) I highly recommend Robert Greene’s book collection especially “the 48 laws of power” it basically breaks down human behavior, influence and real historical examples in a way that makes you think differently about how people move in the world. Its definitely a book that sticks with you.
-
Azereth Barajas
Hello Pamela! I will definitely take into consideration your book recommendation. I am currently studying psychology, and I love learning about human behavior and what influences behaviors in individuals. Thank you for the book recommendation!

Samantha Garza
Hello my name is Samantha Garza and I prefered to be called Samantha.
I am a huge reader, I read over 100 books a year. The book I would recommend is “The Only One Left” by Riley Sager. This was the first book I read by this author and it kept me guessing and not knowing where the book was going to end.
-
Jaiden Williams
Hello, my name is Jaiden Williams and I just prefer to be called Jaiden. I just recently started getting into reading and a good book I would recommend is called “Sometimes I Lie”, it is a psychological thriller about a girl in a coma who’s trying to piece together what lead up to her being stuck in a coma. I would definitely recommend this book if you like twists and turns and multiple possible endings.

Gerry Beard
Hi everybody, my name is Gerry Beard, pronouns/alternate names she/her/Mom/Grandma etc: you can call me Gerry. I’m a bookaholic, I admit it; I can’t pass any bookstore by. I like a lot of genres, both fiction and non-fiction; for the past several years I’ve been reading a lot of sci-fi. I have most of Heinlein’s books, I think, and all of Weir’s books. I also love Marina J. Lostetter’s Noumenon series. I have never read Steven King’s books except 11/22/63, and can say he is a very good writer; that book kept me up LATE reading.
-
Yes Gerry! Weir and Heinlein are brilliant. Anyone that is wanting to start reading SciFi, those are two of the very best. Weir’s “Project Hail Mary” and Heinlein’s “Starship Troopers” are universally loved. (And they are currently making “Project Hail Mary” into a major movie.)

Azereth Barajas
Hello! My name is Azereth Barajas. I don’t have a preferred name, but I understand that my name can be quite difficult to pronounce. I’m fine with whatever way you would like to say my name, lol, but I am book worm, I only read as a hobby. I recently picked up reading again. I just finished reading this book called “Behind Closed Doors by B.A Paris. I won’t lie, it is a pretty disturbing book, but it’s basically about this woman who has a sister with Down syndrome, and her whole life is her sister, but then this perfect picture man came into their lives and just had a disgusting plan for the two sisters. As you read, you will keep telling yourself it cannot get any worse than this, but then you continue reading, and it somehow finds a way to get more evil. It’s a well-written book, but I will give a trigger warning; it does include physical and verbal abuse. It’s a weird book recommendation, but I loved how it kept me captivated the more I read.

Samuel Martinez
Hello everyone! My name is Samuel Martinez, and this is my second full year at CNM. I’m looking forward to taking this class with you all. My go-to book recommendation as of late has been East of Eden by John Steinbeck. I’m sure some of you have heard of it, as it has gained a lot of popularity lately. A sweeping, epic American story, it is one of the few books that I truly couldn’t put down.
-
Samuel,
Oh my gosh…I can’t believe I never read “East of Eden”. It is supposed to be amazing, and I just somehow missed it. I just put it in my reading list. Thanks.
