I’m Jeff Salbato (your teacher), but I prefer Jeff. You only need to introduce yourself in one of these sub-topics, but, because I’m the supposed leader here, I’ll post in all of them…

            Will Miller

Hey name is William Miller, and I like to go by Will. I love all video games and board games, any game there is I probably like to play it.

I like most video games that you can play with friends, like Wii games or just sports games on the XBOX.

Board games are so much fun I love stratego, and I’ve hardly ever lost at Connect 4.

Hi guys, my name is Shengmin Lin, please call me Nikki. I like playing video games. The favorite one is Elden Ring. I think it is the best game I have ever played. The art and the story of the game are fantastic.

                    Hello Nikki,
I also think Elden Ring is the greatest game, it brought me into the other souls games after playing it. I agree about the art and the story, especially since I draw and Fromsoftware’s (developers) art direction is a huge inspiration to me. It’s crazy how I have many playthroughs and watched a lot of videos about the story and it’s still very confusing. Although it’s nice to have a story that allows for speculation through the community. If you like Elden Ring and haven’t played any previous Fromsoft titles like Dark Souls, I would heavily recommend it!

                  Adam Anderson

Hello! My name is Adam, I spend a lot of time playing video games. I mostly play competitive shooters (CS2, Valorant), also had a very short lived pro Fortnite career. This game has not been talked much about, other then the fact you play as a cat. The game is Stray, released in 2022. You play as a cat exploring an underground dystopian society. The game has quite rich backstory if you pay attention well enough, and honestly it is quite fun to just run around as a cat. The graphics are pretty nice if you have a good computer, overall just a very fun well made game.

                    Levin Lindbloom

Hi, my name is Levin and video games are 100% better than board games. I like video games with a strong story line to them. I strongly enjoy Stardew valley, red dead redemption 2, Days gone and Dead Island 2.

                        Caden Murphy

Hah hello Levin! I agree, video games far surpass cardboard and miniatures (Don’t tell my in-laws that though).

Red Dead Redemption has a fantastic story, both the first game and the second. The soundtrack going into Mexico in the first game sticks with me to this day.

Levin… How dare you. (Yes, I’m only kidding) Don’t hate on board games. I choose both. Most of the board games people play are awful, but if you were to give a game like “The Crew”, “Pandemic”, or “Spirit Island” a try, you’d get hooked.

“Stardew Valley” is one of my favorites. Similar ones I love are “Satisfactory”, “Slime Rancher, and “Planet Crafter”.

Hello everyone! I am Caden Murphy, call me Caden. My favorite board game is Catan, a fantastic game that even though I lose more than I win. It is a very fun and engaging board game!

The video games I have always loved are Bloodborne, and all soulsborne games. I also enjoyed Silent Hill 2, including the remake.
I do enjoy my horror and virtual depression!

                                Hi!
My roommates and I have played Catan quite a bit. It can be surprising how long some of the games end up being, but it is always a fun time where the winner of the game is not necessarily who you would expect most of the time.

                              James Clare

Hello, my name is James. While I am more of a video game guy I will skip recommendations because all my favorites, The Last of Us Part I and II, Portal 2, Rainbow 6 Seige, and Dispatch are all very popular already. However, boardgame wise I recommend Magic the Gathering. While popular in itself, I recommend it because most do not pick it up due to the amount of rules and reading involved. But once you overcome that initial hurdle, the game becomes muscle memory and is one of the most fun and time-consuming games you can play with friends or family. I hope we all have a great semester.

Hey James! I Just downloaded The Last of Us Part II. My coworker is obsessed with it, and thinks it’s the best game ever. She has also said that II is better than I so to not even bother lol. Is that true? So for sure I’m going to have to get around to it now that u have 2 recommendations.

No, I absolutely disagree. 1 is far better, and you should play it before 2. However, I will say that 2 is a much prettier game with better map design. So it is more fun to look at lol.

Nice to meet you, Gage. I used to have a racing sim that I traded one of my old project cars for (2006 Pontiac Solstice if you care), I played a ton of BeamNg on it. Assetto Corsa with the custom launcher is also a very good game if you’re looking for more customization (e.g drift practice, what I used to use it for). Are you into cars/car culture in general as well?

I prefered to be called Samantha. Only family has a nickname for me. The video game that I believe is underrated is Luigi’s Mansion. I play that game on the Nintendo Switch and it is my favorite. I keeps me entertained and always guessing.

My name is Miquela H, it’s pronounced like Mikayla. I am not much of a video game person but a video game I’d like to recommend would be Fallout 4, I really enjoy it. I think if you’re into open-world, survival games this is pretty cool.

We play dominos and 10,000 alot with our friends.I have different Monopoly games, ELF, Elvis, the Goonies and Tipsyland. I do have a PS5 but it is not easy the controls are very sensitive. When we play it we play GTA. I tried Call of Duty but that was way hard. Guess I am just not an avid video game player. Looking forward to our class!

                                                  Hello everyone,
My name is Blaine and I like both video games and board games but more so video games. I have played a good amount of games and my favorite genre is souls-like. It’s essentially games with story but also challenge, like Elden Ring. A game I would recommend that isn’t niche is Lies of P. It’s a souls-like that’s based on the story of Pinocchio with a great story, atmosphere and combat. The music and visuals are also amazing.

                                                    Hello class,

My name is Marijke Ypma (Ma-Rye-Ka Eep-Ma). I don’t have a preferred name, but if it is easier, I go by Mary sometimes. Typically, I use Mary when I order online or at food places, as my name has too many unnecessary letters.

A game that I think people are missing out on is Ooblets! Ooblets was a game released in 2020 and is a mixture of Animal Crossing, Pokémon, and Stardew Valley. I feel that Ooblets fits with this class a lot since a large theme of the game is the negative effects of capitalism and how the true villain isn’t someone you typically think it is.

Hello everybody, my name is Michael Hernandez but I like to go by Mikey. I love video games and board games, really any type of game with my friends. Last weekend me and my friends went to Empire Board Game Library in Nob Hill and it is $4/hr and you can play any 1,000+ board games they have with your friends. It also has a cafe offering drinks, and some pastries. Me and my friends played “Clue” (A classic within our group). We also love this card game called “Stir the Pot” and it is the exact kind of game you think it is based of the title. Also did you know Netflix offers some video games and they are actually funner than you would think.
Current video game I am stuck on is Arc Raiders and it is so much fun. I believe it just came out like 3 months ago, and my cousin actually bought it for me for Christmas just to be able to play with her online. I also have been stuck on Call of Duty 6, and Madden 26 as well. I wish I had more time for video/board games but as a full time pharmacy technician and full time student my time has been now consumed with school and work.

Hi! My legal name is Peyton Twilley, but I prefer to go by Pryce. My pronouns are they/them, but don’t sweat it if you get them wrong.

My current favorite video game that I’d recommend to anyone is Dispatch. It’s a telltale style choose your own adventure with an awesome superhero dispatching story and gameplay. It’s one of the funniest games I’ve ever played, and you fall in love with the cast quickly. I’m an author, and I strive to write characters that feel as real and human as the main cast of Dispatch. Despite being a choose your own adventure, the main character, Robert, has a lot of personality. It’s one of those games that it’s so abundantly clear the entire time you play that it was made with so much love for the characters and the story.

Other well-written and fun games I like include DeathLoop, God of War: Ragnarök, and both Slime Rancher games.

I love to play video games and board games, specially with my friends or new people because I believe that you never truly know someone unless you play Uno with them. My favorite videogame has to be Baldur’s gate 2 and 3 and Dispatch, mainly because I love long stories. For board games I love to play Pokémon TCG, and my favorite Pokémon is Gengar. I also play D&D and my favorite race to play as is Drow with my class being Bard or Druid.
