Reply with your name, what you prefer to be called, then recommend a video game or board game that deserves more love that we are missing out on.

I’m Jeff Salbato (your teacher), but I prefer Jeff. You only need to introduce yourself in one of these sub-topics, but, because I’m the supposed leader here, I’ll post in all of them…

Ella Lent-Koop
Hello! My name is Ella Lent-Koop, I go by Ella.
I personally do not play video games, but I love board games.
My favorites are ticket to ride, code names, Harry Potter clue, Sorry, and Catan!
Card games weren’t asked for, but I’ll name a few anyway. I love Phase 10, The Chameleon, and Speed!
-
Woohoo! If I had to choose, I would favor board games as well…I just don’t get to play them often enough.
Ticket to Ride and Codenames are great, and Phase 10 is solid…all three are in my collection. I’ve played the others but gave them away to make room for my growing collection.
If you are looking for a new games, based on your interests, you would probably love Pandemic, Quest for El Dorado, and Cubitos

Clark Pollard Jr
Hey, my name is Clark Pollard Jr. You can just call me Clark. I play a lot of video games and a fair amount of board games. Some video games I recommend are Elden Ring, Minecraft, Terraria, Monster Hunter Wilds, and Palworld.
Elden Ring is a pretty challenging game, but if you have patience and can recognize patterns, you’ll do pretty well.
If you want something more laid back you got Minecraft. It’s a fun game where you build whatever you want and/or survive through the night.
Terraria is basically Minecraft but 2D, and has a lot more bosses. Terraria can definitely be challenging at times but it’s a really fun game.
Monster Hunter Wilds is, as you probably guessed, a game where you hunt monsters. You can track down monsters in certain areas where they are causing a ruckus and take the out by either trapping them or eliminating them.
Palworld is similar to Monster Hunter in that you can capture and eliminate monsters, which are called Pals in Palworld. This game focuses more on survival and base building where you can build a base and have Pals help you with farming and crafting. Palworld is also very similar to PokéMon.
For board games, I’ve played a little bit of Chess, Rummikub, Sorry, Monopoly, and Mancala. I haven’t played a board game in while, but I always enjoy playing them.
They weren’t mentioned but I do really like playing card games. More specifically, Magic the Gathering. It’s a pretty fun card that I play with my friends every Friday.
:D

Clark,
The game from my list that you should check out is “Satisfactory”. Think of Minecraft or Terraria but with industry/engineering upgrades.
I’m jealous that you have a weekly game group. I am lucky if we meet monthly.

My favorite game to play is Legend of Zelda Breath of the wild. This game is very important and fun to me. I could spend hours playing it. I still can beat a lynel but one day I’ll be able to. ‘

Hey Emma. I’ve always wanted to try out breath of the wild but currently don’t have a switch. I’ll definitely get to it one day though.

Sydney Suggett
Hello everyone!
My name is Sydney and people will call me Syd or Squid. My favorite video games are; Call of Duty, Resident Evil, Donkey Kong, Fallout, Minecraft.
My favorite board games are; Monopoly, Life, Clue, and Ticket to Ride! Card game isn’t in here but I love Polish Poker.
-
Ticket to Ride is a perfect recommendation for people who want to see how much better board games have become in the last 15 years. Based on your preferences, I think you would love “Quest for El Dorado”…it’s like a combo of Ticket to Ride and Monopoly, but without the soul crushing aspects of Monopoly.

Danny Jones
Hello I’m Danny Jones and I like to be called Danny Jones. My favorite game is definitely Dark Souls. The atmosphere of Dark Souls is very dark and oppressive. It truly feels as if the world lives on regardless of the player. At the beginning of your journey this may come off as overly difficult or “hard for the sake of being hard” but if you push forward you quickly learn that there is beauty in the darkness. Upon one particular journey, I recall my excitement after finally getting through a fortress and seeing the sun again. I couldn’t imagine not calling Dark Souls art after getting excited to see a virtual sun. It almost feels as if every creature, body and even a hole in the wall has a story.

Did you know that many people on Steam rank game difficulty using a range that goes from easy to Dark Souls? So, you are one of “those gamers” that recommends frustrating games to people like me and then says, “What, that game is easy? You’re just bad at video games.” And then I just get sad that I’m bad at video games and play my easy games some more. Yep, I think it’s probably a genius game but really hard.
(Ouch, I just realized that I read and study philosophy for a living and sometimes recommend nearly unreadable books to people, forgetting how hard they were for me as well when I first read them. Sigh.)

Hello! My name is Ryan, and a game I have been playing a lot recently is Dead by Daylight. It is an asymmetrical horror multiplayer game, a genre I have come to appreciate a lot. The game came out in 2016 but I recently started playing it again, and it has been a super fun time. There have been a lot of popular IPs from horror movies added in, like Scream and, most recently Five Nights at Freddy’s. If i had to explain why I find it so addicting it would be the game loop. It is a simple concept of working with your team of survivors or being the killer that is trying to catch them, which is a recipe for endless replayability and fits the easy-to-play but hard to master vibe. There have also been a lot of quality of life changes made to the game, so if it’s been a minute or you’ve never played, I would for sure check it out sometime!
