I’m Jeff Salbato (your teacher), but I prefer Jeff. You only need to introduce yourself in one of these sub-topics, but, because I’m the supposed leader here, I’ll post in all of them…

Video games no one talks about that are genius: XCom2, Train Valley 2, Slime Rancher, Creeper World, Shapez, Defense Grid: Awakening.

Video games that are popular and deserve to be: Portal, Borderlands 2, Far Cry 3 & 5, Satisfactory, Saints Row the Third, Stardew Valley.

2 player board games: Battle Lines, Spirit Island, Targi, Arboretum, Pandemic, Lost Cities, Viticulture, Quest for El Dorado, Wingspan, Santorini, Slay the Spire.

3-4 players: The Crew, Space Base, Azul, Pandemic, No Thanks, Gizmos, Quirky Circuits, Quest for El Dorado, Wingspan.

For groups: Wits & Wagers, Balderdash, Scattergories, Say Anything.

          Brian Christie

            Good afternoon, classmates!

My first name is Ron; however, I prefer to go by my middle name Brian. A game I have been playing for many years is called Escape From Tarkov. I started out playing the PVP (player vs. player) version, as that was the only version available. Although with the development of PVE (player vs. everything), I have found the game to be more fun in terms of dynamics. The game involves real-world economics within its own currency and flea market system. For instance, you can find bitcoin and other items to barter for currency in game and sell to other players if they choose. If the price of bitcoin goes down in the real world, the price of bitcoin goes down in the game as well. Same for the recent spike in RAM in the real-world market as well. If you have time and find the game on sale on the Steam Store, I recommend giving it a try! The learning curve is steep, but it becomes a lot easier with the PVE extension.

                Brian,

I’m guessing you would agree with the reviews of Escape from Tarkov”. The common summary says, “This game hates me and I keep failing…best game ever!” So you are one of “those” gamers. I aspire to be like you one day, when I become cool.

Good Afternoon Brian! That game sounds pretty in depth and intense! I love board games and video games. My favorite board game is Runebound, and my favorite video game of all time is Final Fantasy IX. Wish you well in this class and have a fantastic weekend!

                  Greetings everyone!
I’m Jhuleine Villarmea, but I prefer to be called Jhuleine.

I really enjoy playing video games, especially MMOs, RPGs, and FPS. Some of the games I’ve been enjoying recently are: Where Winds Meet, Dead by Daylight, Genshin Impact, Palworld, Overwatch, and Call of Duty.

I enjoy these types of games because I like exploring different worlds, playing with other people, and experiencing different kinds of challenges and plots. I wish everyone well for this semester!

Good Afternoon Jhuleine! I too am a DBD fan, however it scares the crud out of me when Michael or ghost face sneaks up on me. I played it day and night all day during covid with a group of friends it was a really fun time for me. Good luck with your classes this term!
                      Cheers,

Hey Marissa! I’ve recently been getting into resident evil too. Though I’m a bit of a wimp to actually play the games myself, I love watching playthroughs.

My name is Hart. I like a lot of story based games, sally face has always been a personal favorite since I was younger. I like resident evil, as well as Fran bow! I like a lot of psych/horror based games or fantasy.I also play games like genshin impact or brawlhalla. A good game I’d recommend if you like story based games as well is your turn to die. Greetings my fellow classmates!

My name is Vanessia, I prefer to be called by my first name only because of the uniqueness of the way it is pronounced. I am not much of a video game or board game person. But if I were to recommend one, I would recommend Mortal Kombat as it had been part of my childhood video games. Also, the challenging excitement of it! As of for a boardgame, I would definitely recommend Monopoly. Only because it is a group board game and coming from a big family it had also kept my family and I close. Let’s have a good semester!

My name is Sophia, I prefer to go by Sophia. I am a huge fan of video games like The Last of Us and Silent Hill. Those would be my top favorites, but I also do like Call of Duty and Spiderman. I mainly like the gameplay style of these games and how exciting they can be! I hope y’all have a great semester.

                              Osvaldo Garcia

                                Hi all!

My name is Osvaldo, and I’m glad there is an intro forum specifically asking for something I could talk about for hours. I’ve been playing video games my entire life and have a particular love of truly challenging ones. Of those, my favorite are the Dark Souls series, Hollow Knight (And its sequel, Silksong), and most recently Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Aside from the challenging combat, I love Dark Souls/Hollow Knight because they don’t hold your hand in any way; you are not given direction, your HUD won’t have a giant arrow and text on your next task, there won’t be a big circle on your map. You have to simply build on your understanding of the game and find your own path forward.

As for board games, the first that comes to mind for a group of 3-6 is Betrayal at House on the Hill. It’s horror-themed and the mechanics of the setup make it so no two games will ever be or feel the same. It has a slight learning curve but after one or two games you’ll want to explore all the outcomes it has to offer.

Looking forward to this semester, and I hope everyone has a good one!

                                    Osvaldo,

Man, another sadistic gamer that loves games that punish you. Have you ever seen that some game reviews on Steam rate games on a difficulty scale that goes from “Easy” to “Dark Souls”?

I am ashamed that I still haven’t played “Betrayal at House on the Hill”… but I know it’s great.

Hey I’m Reece, not to be confused with Reese.

My favorite video game of all time would probably be Fallout: New Vegas, I relate to it as we both crash and break every hour or so.

However a game that I think needs more love is Grimshire. It’s like Stardew Valley if you increase the amount of animals and add the possibility of the town starving to death.

                                    It’s good fun!

I dont play alot of games I do like Fallout 76 though i havent played in quite awhile i dont feel it deserves the hate it still gets yes launch was a real wreck but for just a reality escape wandering around building camps and doing random events I like it. Board games we used have a kinda rare game called Destination USA where you had a budget and had to plan a trip to places in the USA and walk use cars and planes that were color coded and the rules related to how you could use the colors and cars and planes.

I saw someone mention EFT, which I need to play more of, and I saw Jeff mention Satisfactory – which I like, don’t get me wrong, but I much prefer Factorio and Shapez 2. Another less known game in that vein is Dyson Sphere Program, which I also need to play more.

                                                Hello, my name is Jacob.

My favorite video games off the top of my head are Red Dead redemption 2, Ghost of Yotei, and Cyberpunk 2077. I really enjoy games with good story modes and massive open worlds you can explore.

A game that I would say is underrated is Chivalry 2. It’s similar to Call of Duty but with a medieval twist. It’s definitely worth checking out if you are a fan of first person shooters, but instead you have medieval weapons.

My top 5 games would probably be counter strike, for honor, madden, dark souls 3 (bonus points if you know of black myth wukong!), and the bloons tower defense series.

A couple games I have been playing recently are Fortnite and Wuthering Waves. I love all types of games from shooters, gacha, open world, RPG’s, to horror. If there was one horror game series I’d recommend it would be the Fatal Frame series.

The first video game I ever played was Minecraft back when I was 4, so it will always have a special place in my heart, but as of now, I would say that Phasmophobia has me hooked. In terms of board games, I haven’t really played one recently, but I used to love playing The Game of Life and Candy Land.

My name is Andrew and I prefer Andrew/Drew JUST NEVER CALL ME ANDY IT WILL CAUSE A CHEMICAL REACTION THAT CANNOT BE UNDONE! Just kidding, I just don’t enjoy Andy… Anyways my favorite video game of all time is Final Fantasy IX. I really love RPGs with good storylines and cinematics. I am a huge fantasy nerd and I love everything high fantasy. I also high recommend Runebound 2nd edition its a great board game and a lot of fun with friends. Anyways I wish everyone luck this term with all their courses!

                                                                    Cheers,

I don’t play games as much as I used to, but one of my favorites right now would have to be Red Dead Redemption 2. Also, some games that I will always love would have to be Lego Batman 2 and WII Sports.

There has been only one game that I can play for hours and that’s Minecraft. As of board games my fav is Uno, it can go on for so long. I made my patients at work play it and we had the time of our lives joking around.

My name is Charlie. My all time favorite video game is Final Fantasy 7. I played it when it first came out (as well as the others) and have recently played the remake of them. The Final Fantasy series has always been my favorite video game series of all time. I even named my dog, Shiva, after them.
I like a variety of different games otherwise. I am a huge gamer. I play things like Destiny 2, Baldur’s Gate 3, Satisfactory, Space Engineers, Kingdom Come Deliverance, Cyberpunk, Mass Effect, etc. There are too many to list. I hope everyone enjoys this class!

Some of my favorite video games currently are grand strategy games such as Victoria II, Crusader Kings II, and Europa Universalis IV. I just get some sort of sick pleasure watching colors on a map get bigger, but in all seriousness, I just find it so much fun managing all the many parts of a state, as well as personal relationships, armies, the economy, etc. If you have a free weekend (and I mean weekend), I would definitely recommend playing one of these games, just because of how much fun it is making your own empire!

Silent Hill 2 is fun and super scary. I am still trying to finish the game, but overall is a fun game.
